Wakatobi is a luxury dive resort in southeastern Sulawesi, Indonesia. In a tranquil island setting far from crowds and cities, with no other divers for at least 100 miles, Wakatobi seamlessly blends five-star amenities and civilized comforts with a pristine natural environment; a pairing that has secured its reputation as one of the world’s finest resorts.
"From day one, our mission was to create a sustainable business model that would combine a superior guest experience with a source of funding to establish and maintain an environmentally and culturally sound conservation program. To this end we founded the Wakatobi Collaborative Reef Conservation Program, which is now one of the world’s largest privately-funded marine protected areas."

A Retirement Sanctuary for Orangutans and Chimpanzees.
Patti Ragan has made it her lifework to care for these great apes rescued from laboratories, pet owners, and the entertainment industry across the United States. The center she founded nearly 25 years ago has become in part a rehabilitation facility and in part a nursing home for apes, which can live 60 years or more in captivity. The center has become a model for ape sanctuaries across the US, eight of which are full members of the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance (NAPSA), which Patti helped to found. Center for Great Apes is the only sanctuary in North America that offers a home to orangutans.

Filmed during a weeklong trip to the cenotes in Tulum, Mexico, diving seven different cenotes, from deep pit cenotes with clouds of hydrogen sulphide, to spectacular cave formations, haloclines and beautiful root structures with aquatic life. This film is about Xibalba, which translates as “place of fear” to the Maya, who believed that the cenotes were gateways to Xibalba, the underworld.
Special thanks to Xibalba Dive Center and Panna Fontanna for excellent guidance.
